Ah, the first birthday cake smash. Sonia fulfilled her birthday girl duties this weekend (while Grandma Jenni and Grandpa Dick were visiting-- more pictures and stories to come) and made a fabulous mess with chocolate cake and buttercream frosting. She even got to attempt to use a spoon for the first time (we figured she was already going to get ridiculously messy, so why not combine first spoon usage with cake smashing?), with dubious results. I put together a little highlight video of the cake carnage:

I couldn't tell if she was using the spoon to scoop the cake or just as a smashing/chewing toy. lol! I think she did great work decimating that cake. :)

Yeah, I think Sosini might have been more interested in the spoon than the cake. She had a big lunch about an hour before (pureed veggies and her daddy's amazing flank steak fajitas), so her belly might have still been a little full....
